CNET Editors' review

AVG's Anti-Virus and Internet Security line follows on the heel of last year's highly-ranked security suite by not merely incorporating some minor but key tweaks to both its front-end and back-end, but a stronger push toward personal data management and privacy utilities that help prevent uninvited access to your files. Though many threats still exist, security programs as they stand now start to encompass areas of privacy utilities. Whereas the majority of threats were once external viruses trying to force their way into your machines, nowadays malware focus more on tricking users to inadvertently open doors for hijacking.
Version 2013 was AVG's first push toward adopting and remixing the Modern UI movement. Not just a response to competitors, the Modern UI movement represents an overall push toward creating a more streamlined security experience. For the average consumer, what your anti-virus and anti-malware programs do to protect your computer have followed a set it and forget it mentality.
Balancing along the fine line of being both approachable yet empowering is a key goal of not just AVG but also just about any utility software developer: Modern UI has the visual appeal, but does it evoke control and the sense of security over all the software's power features?
In our last review, we commended AVG's decision to reduce the installation steps. It still contains a toolbar offer, and despite the universal hatred toward being fooled into installing yet another browser helper object, AVG's toolbar actually does include useful security options like Do Not Track. Again it's a tradeoff but if you really wanted DNT's features, then there's a standalone version available for free on Firefox and Chrome in their respective extension stores.
By now, almost every major security software maker has more or less adopted the flat, Modern UI look and AVG has kept its own visuals mostly intact. The main screen is decorated with AVG's primary areas of protection that include your computer, browsing the Web, Identity protection features, e-mail protection, and extras that populate the second row if you opt to purchase the premium or Internet Security suites. It's the same as last year's design, but still a radical departure from the old AVG that's appreciated, yet still may take some getting used to for the more hands-on user. Thankfully, all it's older scan settings are still neatly tucked under the options, though they aren't nearly as touch-friendly.
All visual and organizational improvements aside, AVG 2014 (along with many other security suites we've seen) have more or less been continuing to dress a Windows 7 application without completely assimilating into the actual Modern UI environment, wholeheartedly. I can understand this context under the stance that there are still many who don't face a real urgency to upgrade to Windows 8. But if you're moving toward minimal input and maintenance for running a security program in the background, then perhaps Modern UI might be better suited in the long run.

What's new in version 2014.0.4116

A) Added privacy: We've put a big emphasis on privacy for this release. Our 2014 version not only helps keep your personal information safe when you're online and on your PC, but we have further improved privacy protection with the new integrated File Shredder
  • New File Shredder: Normal deletion isn't always secure enough. In some cases, your data may still be recoverable. File Shredder deletes data securely to help ensure your most sensitive information remains private. Files are deleted permanently and can't be accessed or recovered by someone else.

B) Easy access to AVG mobile apps: User-friendly interface offers easy access to our free mobile apps. They range from mobile protection (AVG AntiVirus Free for Android) to privacy protection (AVG Safe Browser for iPhone & iPad) to mobile performance apps (AVG Cleaner for Android).

C) Improved Detection:
  • Better Detection: Our detection rates are always being improved to ensure we are keeping up with Internet criminals.
  • File Reputation: The new AVG client will check with our cloud service and report the prevalence of certain files on users' computers. We'll then use this information to improve our product's detection capabilities (heuristics, behavioural detection). No personal information is ever collected, and customers must opt into our product improvement program in order for us to access their data.

LATEST MOBILE MARKET DOWNLOAD APPS FOR FREE

DOWNLOAD LATEST MOBILE MARKET FOR FREE

The 1Mobile Market for Android offers a curated selection of fun, useful, and otherwise interesting apps, all of which are free. It's unique because it's managed by a team of actual editors, rather than a set of algorithms that try to home in on what you're looking for.
First thing you'll notice is that 1Mobile's main panel looks a bit like a cheap knock-off of Google Play, with its large tiles and similar color scheme. For some, this might be comforting, but for me, it feels a little tacky.
While looks may not be 1Mobile's strong suit, the app does offer tons of value in other ways. It's a lot more manageable (size-wise) than Google Play, and it offers a number of useful tools to find the apps you're looking for.
Swipe left from the main panel, and you'll see a list of categories for a typical browsing experience. Swipe right to see Top apps, AppLists, and Editor's Picks. AppLists are uniquely helpful, in that they group apps based on specific interests. For instance, there are lists for Fitness fiends, vegetarians, movie lovers, bookworms, and so on. These groupings are one good reason to check 1Mobile before going straight to Google Play.
Another way to find apps on 1Mobile Market is through Search. If you do a typical keyword search, 1Mobile will attempt to autocomplete your terms, which can be very helpful. Also, there's a unique (thought not necessarily useful) keyword cloud that offers handfuls of typical search terms for you to try.
It's important to note that you don't actually download any apps directly from 1Mobile. Rather, each product page just features a link, which leads directly to the download page on Google Play. Also, on the product page you can Like or Dislike an app, see all its vitals, and view screenshots.
One thing to watch out for with 1Mobile is invalid links. Since the whole market is curated by editors, sometimes a recommendation can lead to a page that no longer exists on Google Play. This happened to me when I came across a recommendation for the classic NES game Contra. Seeing a link to one of my all-time favorite shoot-'em-up games got my hopes high, but clicking through to a nonexistent download page quickly grounded them. The game was no doubt pulled for copyright infringement issues, but 1Mobile's editors had yet to update their database.
Overall, I think 1Mobile Market is an outstanding tool for sifting through what might otherwise be an overwhelming Google Play store. It offered me a lot of great recommendations for apps that I likely wouldn't have found otherwise.

WinRAR is a lightweight, flexible, and easy-to-use archiving utility that can unpack most archive formats, as well as compress to both RAR and ZIP. Free to try for 40 days ($29 for single license), WinRAR is a top dog in the compression category.
WinRAR's interface is about as simple as it gets. Start creating (or add to) an archive by dragging and dropping your files into the interface or by browsing through the Folder Tree side panel (when enabled). From there, the most common functions are laid out in the form of colorful, mostly intuitive icons along the top, which can all be customized by downloading themes from the company's Web site. You can Add files to, Extract, Test, Delete, or even Repair archives right from the main interface. Drop-down menus house the program's more advanced features, including self-extracting archives, archive locking, benchmarking, and autodeletion of temp files.

WinRAR - Compress files and unpack archives - Download Video Previews

With WinRAR, both creating and unpacking archives is blazingly fast. And according to WinRAR's developers, the most recent version of the program takes advantage of multicore processors to achieve even faster compressions rates, depending on your hardware profile. It is worth noting, however, that these speed boosts do use up a significant chunk of RAM (approximately 120 MB). Compression ratios vary depending on file type, but in general seem on par with or better than other archiving programs.
Overall, WinRAR is a winner because of its speed, simple interface, flexibility with file formats, and powerful advanced features. If you're looking for a one-stop archiving shop, look no further.

TeamViewer is the All-In-One Solution for Remote Access and Support over the Internet.
TeamViewer connects to any PC or server around the world within a few seconds. You can remote control your partner's PC as if you were sitting right in front of it.
Features:
  • control computers remotely via the internet,
  • record your session and covert it to AVI,
  • online meetings,
  • Drag & Drop files,
  • Multi-Monitor support.

TeamViewer is a proprietary computer software package for remote control, desktop sharing, online meetings, web conferencing and file transfer between computers. The software operates with the Microsoft WindowsOS X,[1][2] Linux,[3] iOS,[4] Android,[5] Windows RT[6] and Windows Phone[7] operating systems. It is also possible to access a machine running TeamViewer with a web browser.[8] While the main focus of the application is remote control of computers, collaboration and presentation features are included.[9]
TeamViewer GmbH was founded in 2005 in UhingenGermany. TeamViewer is a unified partner with GFI.[10]

TeamViewer is a free tool that makes it incredibly easy to set and use a VPN connection; a Virtual Private Network that lets you take complete control of another PC from your own computer, whether they're separated by a soda can or a continent (and as long as both machines are running TeamViewer). It enables two-way connections in which users can flip control back and forth. TeamViewer also lets you hold virtual meetings with multiple participants (again, they all must have TeamViewer installed). With a name like TeamViewer, you'd expect it to be an enterprise-ready tool, and you'd be right: TeamViewer's robust simplicity is what happens when multiple users of vastly different skills need to use software. After a while, the bugs get squashed pretty firmly. But TeamViewer is free to non-commercial users. That means you can use it to access your work and home PCs remotely, of course. But you can also install it on your mom's PC (for example) and provide tech support from home.
We installed and opened TeamViewer on two Windows 7 PCs; one a 64-bit desktop, the other a 32-bit netbook. TeamViewer provides a user name and password for each machine. You simply need to enter each machine's numbers in the other to create a connection. The host PC's screen displays the remote PC's desktop in a window, and the host machine's mouse and keyboard control the remote PC's counterparts. We could open folders, files, and programs; run processes; and change settings: anything we could do with the remote machine's own controls, we could do from our main PC's controls, too, with TeamViewer. We tried the Meeting tool, too, but since we had TeamViewer installed on just two PCs, our pool of invitees was a bit small. TeamViewer offers some useful options; for instance, you can limit it to file transfers if you don't need total control.
TeamViewer is simply the easiest tool of its type we've used, and a far cry from the VPN apps of not so long ago. And it can cut down on the phone tag when friends and family need tech support!

WINDOWS 7 AND VISTA HIGHLY COMPRESSED

NEW WINDOWS 7 AND VISTA HIGHLY COMPRESSED 80 MB
100% WORKING

Windows 7 is an operating system produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbookstablet PCs, and media center PCs.[6] It was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009,[7] and became generally available for retail worldwide on October 22, 2009,[8] less than three years after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista. Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time. Windows 7 is succeeded by Windows 8.
Unlike Windows Vista's many new features, Windows 7 was an incremental upgrade designed to work with Vista-compatible applications and hardware.[9] Presentations given by Microsoft in 2008 focused on multi-touch support, an updated Windows shell with a new taskbar, referred to internally as the Superbar, a home networking system called HomeGroup,[10] and performance improvements. Some standard applications that have been included with prior releases of Microsoft Windows, including Windows Calendar,Windows MailWindows Movie Maker, and Windows Photo Gallery, are not included in Windows 7;[11][12] most are instead offered separately at no charge as part of the Windows Essentials suite.[13]

IRON MAN HIGHLY COMPRESSED 150 MB

IRON MAN HIGHLY COMPRESSED 150 MB

Iron Man is an American fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963).
An American billionaire playboyindustrialist and ingenious engineerTony Stark suffers a severe chest injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build aweapon of mass destruction. He instead creates a powered suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. He later uses the suit and successive versions to protect the world as Iron Man. Through his corporation ― Stark Industries ― Tony has created many military weapons, some of which, along with other technological devices of his making, have been integrated into his suit, helping him fight crime. Initially, Iron Man was a vehicle for Stan Lee to explore Cold War themes, particularly the role of American technology and business in the fight against communism. Subsequent re-imaginings of Iron Man have transitioned from Cold War themes to contemporary concerns, such as corporate crime and terrorism.
Throughout most of the character's publication history, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero team the Avengers and has been featured in several incarnations of his own various comic book series. Iron Man has been adapted for several animated TV shows and films. The character is portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr. in the live action film Iron Man (2008), which was a critical and box office success. Downey, who received much acclaim for his performance, reprised the role in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including two Iron Mansequels and The Avengers (2012). Iron Man was ranked 12th on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes in 2011.

ROBOT ARENA 2 HIGHLY COMPRESSED

ROBOT ARENA 2 HIGHLY COMPRESSED
48 MB

Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy is a computer game developed by Gabriel Entertainment and published by Infogrames . It is the sequel to Robot Arena. Compared to its predecessor, it has many new features, such as the Havokphysics engine, fully 3-D environments (robots are now able to leave the ground), and the player's ability to completely design their own robot. This includes chassis design, weapon placement, mechanics, and paint, etc.. Weapons are nearly completely customizable, including weapons that mount on various attachments, such as poles, disks, and tri-bars. There is no credit system, parts can be taken for free as long as the weight limit has not been reached. Nearly every type of weapon in robotic combat is doable, but servo motor based weaponry (e.g., hydraulic crushers, lifting devices, etc.) does not work. Although not well received from a marketing standpoint, this game has a dedicated fanbase and a community that is still active today. Those who still play it use two versions. One is called 'Stock/base' by the community - `Stock` which is the original game and the other is called 'DSL' which is a modded version of the game that has components and arenas created by the community itself.

nfs Club series) consisting of 109 miles (175 km) of road[8] and a large highway system, making it the largest Need for Speed "world" EA has created so far.[8] The game's environment consists of four boroughs: Palm Harbor, Port Crescent, Gold Coast Mountains, and Sunset Hills (in the DS version the boroughs are Metropolis, North Port Crescent, South Port Crescent and Riverton). In the Wii and PS2 versions two boroughs are copied off Need for Speed Most Wanted and put into different positions.[9]These four boroughs make up the city, Tri-City, presumably a city located on the Gulf Coast or on the California Coast although the city itself heavily resembles Los Angeles.[10] The road system includes four water crossings, going clockwise: the Main Guy Causeway (Ocean Expressway connecting Sunset Hills to Port Crescent via man-made island), the Vale Causeway (Sunset Hills to Palm Harbor), the North T Causeway (Man-made island to Palm Harbor), and the Memorial Tunnel (Port Crescent to Palm Harbor).[9] Undercover also features a new continuous highway system.[11] In previous installments, highways were relatively small circuits concentrated within separate boroughs.[12] InUndercover, the main highway circles Tri-City, with each of the four boroughs sharing a piece of the larger circuit.[9] The longer highway length gives a more realistic shape, with long straight areas, gentle curves, rest areas and large interchanges.[9] Lastly, the entire map is open from the start of the game, unlike previous installments where boroughs had to be unlocked.[9]

The police system is similar to Most Wanted and Carbon. It uses a similar bar graph at the bottom of the screen that moves between the blue "Evade" (shown as green on PS2 and Wii), on the right side, and the red "Busted", on the left side, depending on the player's speed and proximity to police.[9] The "Cooldown" period after evading pursuing police units returns as well (shown in light blue), along with heat levels, speedbreaker and pursuit breakers. Also similar to Most Wanted and Carbon, police vehicles range from generic city patrol cars to federalpursuit cars accompanied by police rhinos (SUVs) and helicopters.[9] Unlike previous games, the type of police that appear is not entirely dependent on heat levels (i.e. high level police can appear at low heat levels and vice versa) but more on the player's wheelman level (i.e. progress through the game). At a high wheelman level, federal police will immediately join the pursuit, even if the player was at a low heat level.[9][13] Common police tactics such as road blocks, rolling road blocks, spike strips, and PIT maneuvers are all featured, although some are only used by federal police. In addition, the player gets to drive a police vehicle in a mission in career mode, which consists of stealing a Nissan GTR state police car. The other police cars cannot be driven except in a multiplayer game called Cops and Robbers.[9] In the PlayStation 2 and Wii versions, however, other than in the mentioned mission (in these versions the cop car is a Lamborghini Gallardo - there's no GTR in them), the player earns from Chase Linh three police cars in career mode (Mustang GT, Lamborghini Gallardo and Porsche 911 GT2) after reaching certain parts of the game, which can be driven in a "chasedown mode", where the player has to arrest a certain number of racers, earning money as a reward.
A damage system returns to Undercover, but differs from the prior title ProStreet in that the damage is only cosmetic and does not adversely affect performance.[9] However, a car can still be "Totaled" in the new "Highway Battle" mode (except PlayStation 2 and Wii) and in some missions in career mode. During these missions a car damage bar is displayed, which indicates the amount of damage done to the player's vehicle.[9] The primary goal of these missions is to deliver certain cars without totaling them.[9] In general, damage is automatically repaired after every career race or police pursuit,[9] unlike in ProStreet where it had to be repaired by the player at a cost (either money or a "repair marker").[9][14] The damage system has been updated, which is more detailed given that scratches and dents could now be seen on the player's car (which represent minor damage), or heavy damage such as entire sections of the car ripped off (like bumpers, hoods etc.) or large deformations or dents. Police vehicles can sustain damage but in a different way than they did in Most Wanted and Carbon. Instead of the damage being made up of static models (although doors, trunk doors, hoods, bumpers and sirens could be broken off), the damage models are now flexible, and each area of the car can suffer from none, light, medium, or major damage (unlike Most Wanted or Carbon where each area can be in only two states of damage, undamaged or damaged). Many minor hits to different areas will gradually make the sustained damage more and more severe.
The customization of cars is similar to Need for Speed: ProStreet but has been enhanced on the level of graphics and detail.[15][16] The new color palette and the "matte" paint were improved.[16] The game also features aftermarket parts like Carbon did.[17] As a bonus, EA added a vinyl similar to the vinyl of the BMW M3 GTR in Need for Speed: Most Wanted that was continued as a bonus car in "Carbon".
The player can gain wheelman (i.e. reputation) points as they progress through the game's story by participating in missions, winning races or performing flashy maneuvers in a police chase. In turn, this grants the player access to bonus missions, adding a small RPG-like element to game play.
The game also uses in-game advertising, featuring the T-Mobile Sidekick.
